306 hub carriers (ft)
If anyone down west has/knows of a pair of hub carriers i could borrow/ buy if they fit drop me a pm. Think they'd have to be sports ones (xs,xsi,'6). Want to see if they will fit on the 205 as it gives some neg. camber apparently.

If you'd have put this up a few weeks back i sent 2 gti-6 to scrap 1 defiatly had them on
I've got 2 gti-6 sub frames in the field though so there maybe a pair, or even if there is just 1 you can try
i wont be down there till Tuesday though to have a check
p.s what diameter lower ball joints you running? the gti6 has an 18mm so you may have to change the ball joints too

get some rose jointed bottom arms
306 trailing arms on the back give a bit of neg also... and a touch of tow in

didnt think of the ball joints tbh, was more concerned about the wheel bearing/shaft combo (no way am i going back to 1600 shafts if they fit!). If you have one i could try/buy that'd be great, i can take if off if you want like, save you the hassle.

Yeah thats fine I'm poping down the garage later i'll see what is on the subframes and let you know
your shafts will be im sure the 306 ball joints bolt to the 205 + 309 wishbones so not a huge headache

Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
yeah sorry mate should have posted up i have both sides ther just still on the subframe at the moment
Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
the other option is rose jointed bottom arms ad, gives abit more adjustability. just been sorting mine out ill post a pic up in a bit. let me know how you get on with these tho! always handy to know. ive gone up to the 1.9 hub carriers etc 1.9 shafts are larger and my mate matt maidment hasnt had a problem with them even though hes a quite hard on cars *touch wood*
Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
yeah, plus 1600 calipers are S**T. My 1600 kept doin shafts cos both cv's are the crap spider type. If your running any kind of camber from r/j bottom arms but standard topmounts it's worth making up a shim to go between the outer cv and the wheel bearing to keep shaft plunge correct or it'll eat cv's. With eccentric top mounts it's not so bad as when the tops are cambered in it actually reduces plunge slightly.

matt runs 1.5-2 deg neg never had a shim, never had a shaft problem to date. he runs grpN top mount rubbers like im doing.
jammy git just bought proflex for the back tho! LOL
Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
yeah, seen his thread on britishrally about proflex. Awesome kit if you can afford it!
Just said about the cv issue as a friend of mine had it alot, though he was using 309 r/j btm arms and shafts come to think of it and a shim sorted it. The crappy spider inner cv wont take much abuse at full stretch see.

Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
205/309 arms identical. shafts maybe a bit longer on the 309 due to the track being different as the subframe on a 309 is wider. bar prop in neath can make custom shafts for pritty much the same price as ordinary shafts using bigger/stronger cv joints to your own specification if it becomes an issue. its also down to driving style if u constantly floor it on full lock ur going to f**k up cv joints in no time.
Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
yeah, that was pretty much how rob drove! 309's def have longer shafts and longer std bottom arms, just wasnt sure if the r'j ones were different too.
Re: 306 hub carriers (ft)
arms are identical. my boss in work makes them, had 309 ones and 205 ones the arms themselves are no different.... only some makes have stronger webin in the casting. its the subframe thats wider on 309s. but with RJ bottom arms wouldnt matter on length it can be offset in where the threaded insert is welded in
