306 GTi-6 lightweight (on a budget)
I picked this up the other day, plan is to sell bits off it to pay for the bits it needs to turn it into a track car. All the bits are there but the block is cracked so needs an engine bargain for £175 mind. Its been off the road for about 2 years now and while it was parked up some polish ppl pinched the wheels. so the guy wanted rid.
It's a non sunroof shell so can be made into a good track toy, plan is to make it as light as i can, have it handling like its on rails and keeping the power about 200bhp.
Luckily i still had spare wheels,
Inside, the center dash is sparkily metalic silver, (will be going in the bin)
half leather,
And some fancy ICE which i might keep,

I know the guy spent alot buying it, then the engine went, so it got replaced and that 1 didnt last long either. he didnt wanna spend anymore on it so parked it up. then the wheels got pinched and he just wanted rid of it.

Re: 306 GTi-6 lightweight (on a budget)
Little update, they'll be coming quick as hopefully i'll be taking it upto Llandow track on april 2nd so i have a month to get it running.
Stripped interior,
Old engine, A/C and ABS removed,
Dusty cars always come in handy for drawing wiring diagrams on the windows.
The first mod i've made, e-bay special steering wheel.
I will be setting the suspension up the same as my D-turbo for the moment cos that is pretty good and handles awesome. New Kyb shocks all round, roc -30mm front springs, standard hight rear beam, OE wishboes and steel ARB links. Also ferodo pads and brembo discs all round. I can get all this through work and pay when i can afford to, so keeping it pretty standard until funds improve.

Re: 306 GTi-6 lightweight (on a budget)
Update. first i wanna start by saying this is no longer a 'budget' track car, as all suspension and brakes needed replacing they're being uprated and not cheap either, i'm skint again.lol. so many upgrades available for these. i'll let the pics do the talking, the car has changed a bit since i first had it. and it's nowhere near finished. rear beam has been rebuild and raised but i might lift it more yet. i think its too low still.
Ginger shocks,
gave the boot floor a clean up
made up some new copper brake pipes for the front, got braded fexi's all round and a braded flexi and a bias valve from the master cylinder to the boot floor.
in went the engine,
I modified my phase 1 morettes They were broken a bit from the bump i had so they were cut to fit. And a laguna splitter i had off a mate over a year ago.
Tempory fitted my new exhaust and de-cat, and this is how she now sits.

I do wash it from time to time but it lives in a milling shed so it's always dusty in there, i'll clean it when it's driveable.

Re: 306 GTi-6 lightweight (on a budget)
This weekend i received the fuel pipe i needed from pugplus, so i could put the tank back on, fit a battery and turn the key, the engine turned over but no life from the fuel pump. I took out the pump and tested it and it was ok, I wasnt sure if the pump was controled by the imobilizer or maybe i'd cut one too many wires out of the dash loom when i lightened it, so i came on here and got dug into the search and found the imobilizer does not control the pump. a bit more head scratching later and playing with connecters and i was back on here again, used the search and found it could be fuel pump realy fault, straight away i knew it was this, only because i dont remember fitting it. Back down to the farm again, looked behind the battery, theres the multi plug but no relay! feck!, i thought to myself, where will i get one of them on a sunday afternoon? Then looking in the car i saw it, attached to an old engine loom was the relay, quickly fitted it and turned the key, the fuel pump primed itself and i turned the key the final click, the engine fired into life! It made my day, i thought i was gonna have loads of problems as this car has not run for 2 years but it was running great. its a bit tappy but fingers crossed it should clear with a good run (also found that out in the search.lol). Just gotta do the brakes before i can take it out for a spin.
