Datalogger/Digital Dashboard
Right then, this is one of the projects i'm working on at the moment, started it originally for the mr2oc.
Using a custom microcontroller setup Im building a datalogger to drop data onto a memory stick and straight to a USB connection (for direct connection to a carpc). I also plan on making the board design and component list free to anyone who wants to build their own.
Data i plan on recording:
2 Axis accleremeter (lateral and longtitudinal g-forces)
GPS sensor (speed, heading, lap modelling)
Temps (Engine, Oil and Water)
Steering, Throttle and Brake positions
Pressure sensors (Oil, Inlet)
Wheel speed sensors
Knock Sensor
RPM
I'm also looking at having an additional load of analogue and digital inputs.

Re: Datalogger/Digital Dashboard
Sounds like quite a complex project...

Re: Datalogger/Digital Dashboard
I've got most of the electronics stage done and planned, not too hard
Re: Datalogger/Digital Dashboard
right then, a little update, i actually got in some of the components before christmas:
so i now have a 3 axis acceleromter (G-force meter) and a GPS sensor, got both of these mounted on some breadboard and the microprocessor can read off both of them at a decent rate (once every 1/5th of a second). I also got myself 2 in-line flow meters as i plan on building a seperate device and screen to do fuel figures (mpg, mpg total etc). Going to read up this week and find what sensors i can just piggyback from the ECU/Loom already.

Re: Datalogger/Digital Dashboard
Still waiting on some bits to arrive from the states Got all the wiring laid out now, waiting on a screen and couple of other goodies tho
Re: Datalogger/Digital Dashboard
Whoops, forgot about this post. Got all the bits now minus the screen
Hacked apart my old Road Angel unit and plan on mounting the main gubbins inside it with an additional box for feeding all the other sensors into. The screen can then show GPS/G-Force/MPG or other sensor data on it and still be removable. Will get some pics up on friday (left my camera in the back of the car in the garage doh!)
