Re: My New Hdi 1999 reg
and this is how it stands today, had a boost leak so sorted that out hopefully.will find out tomorrow once the sealant has cured then i can uplaod the stage 2 map on it to go with the intercooler and save for a gti/dt clutch combination then
some better pics of the splitter
looking at the 2nd pic looks like the intercooler has dropped an inch for some reason, will sort that out soon enough
took it for a blast and the boost leak is now sorted run it in for a few weeks then chuck the new map on (reduced torque)

Re: My New Hdi 1999 reg
just bought some smoked angel headlights,hd thme on when i bought the car and wish i kept them..got a slim line fan arriving also so i can connect to a manual switch..and some windscreen washers/fish oxygen bar to attach for my fmic to add for novetly sake more than anything and connect to my windscreen cleaner (only use water)
then all at the same time fix my water leak also. beleive the pipework is catching on the drivers side hose connection and putting pressure on it when going fast over bumps/turning corners so releasing water as cant see it leaking from anywhere else...
also secure my intercooler bit more so there less rattle
1 - fit new headlights
2 - fix water leak
3 - add intercooler cooling methods
4 - wire slim line fan
5 - secure intercooler and piping so less rattling

Re: My New Hdi 1999 reg
well had a long and busy day today only to find i got to take it all back off again.... read on
bought some headlights off a gti6 member (angels) for £65 so was happy with that but i need to buy a new bulb.
Jobs for the day were
1 - fit new headlights
2 - fix boost leak
3 - fix water leak
i managed to fix the boost leak and fit the headlights, with the water leak i used radweld but no hope..made the hole smaller but still leaks so going to have to buy a new radiator tomorrow..may try another bottle of radweld to see if it will make the hole smaller again and hopefully cover it but i doubt it very much £66 i could of done with this month.belt is tighter thane ver on the money side of things.
First off 2months ago my boost leak was coming from the top of my elbow where i forgot to seal it properly so that was done 2months ago but noticed i had a new boost leak and it was coming from underneath the car so whilst jacked up i checked out the underneath of the car and saw loads of soot where it shouldnt of been so pressure washed most of it off and realised the piping had come undo so im assuming i forgot to do the jubilee clip
so whilst i had the front of the car off i altered the piping and made it more secure and it now stops rubbing on my radiator which caused the leak in the first place
Whilst this was all off i thought it attempt the "aircon" fan trick and after 30mins of trying and help from vatovey and ruan no joy and came up with the conclusion that my aircon switch doesnt work (same as warlords,so im not the only one). So whilst it was all ripped off i re-routed the existing fan wiring so i can wire up a slim line in the future (i have the fan but needs to be mounted)
Then once it was all back together put headlights on and this is how it stands till i get a new radiator (tomorrow hopefully)
Thanks for reading and hopefully ill have good news on the water leak tomorrow

found a spare 12v socket laying around earlier so had 30mins spare and decided to install it,i think ive got the wrong wire connected as it does not work but a simple matter of swopping it over
this way i can charge a phone or ipod or something aswell as using satnav if needed

my back end decided to fly out round a roundabout only going 20mph as i was at the front plus roads were wet, pulled over and had a look why my back end flew out as it shouldnt of flown out like that, stopped raining about 4hours before i headed out and roads were partially dry. This is what i found when i had a look round. negative camber. so im now on a lookout for a new rear axle asap and car is off road till it sorted.

it now works but i simply used a new live feed and new earth fee instead of taking it off there
reason ive put a new one there is because when i go round corners with this attached to the middle cig lighter it falls sideways and this way it cant

Re: My New Hdi 1999 reg
whilst waiting for apsee your bro to coem sort my brakes out due to apsee snapping my bleed nipple (not on purpose...or so he says.just jealous) decided to go about tidying the garage(rents due home in 4days and will not be impressed with the state of it, and thought start putting me boot back together
ordered a new cargo net off ebay the other day for bout £3 so heres my boot tidies now
and a random pic of my new gazebo i will use to work on the car so weather cant hold me back now plus it will come in handy when football coaching also.
(on offer £16.99 iirc in Argos)

Re: My New Hdi 1999 reg
well only minor parts updates more than anything... after being dicked about with with the rear axle i ended up getting some new (2nd hand) torsion bars off marksorento on the gti forum, top bloke items where as described and when they arrive to manchester (i live in wales) he chased the problem till it was sorted and kept in contact.
Those arrived so thought id start stripping my drivers side suspension whilst awaiting on new (2nd hand) struts to arrive, bought them off ebay for £35posted and they came with 106 springs on them also so needless to say they are for sale on the 106 site and ive done the drivers side but got a problem with the TRE and the nut is just spinning so going to grab some new ones (actual new ones) from BMF for £14 i think later this afternoon and i can nearly have the car back on 4 wheels, got my drop links arriving tomorrow also.
One thing i noticed whilst it was all stripped down was rather black sludgy oil around my turbo pipe so ive retightened that now also,i was only missing 1psi and this seems to be why, also ordered from T shape bulbs for my halo rings and got a door check strap arriving next week so i can fix all the little fiddles with the car before it goes back on the road september 1st and hopefully itll have the stage 2 limited torque remap which ive had on my laptop for a good 6-7months now and never got round to fitting it. Once its tax itll be off to one of the local boys to fit my torsion bars and the car will then be raised a bit on the back and start to look level again
Nice to see things in life slowly on the up, house deposit back, 2 interviews and the car is going back together, just wish it didnt cost so much, more costly item is the tax at £120 for 6 months
ps cheers to Tom also for bringing me a 7mm allen key, stupid pug doing 1 side 6mm and other side 7mm

Re: My New Hdi 1999 reg
@kev-Pillar pod its too hard to do to make it look more oem than ones currently available and to be honest id probs charge the same amount of money as the ebay ones as its quite a bit of working involved with them
Right well today as everything is on 4 wheels it still aint looking too good, the drivers side is a finger width lower than the otherside..this simply may be down to tracking which i hope it is so decided to get on with a few things instead and wire in my footwell lights, they come on with the courtesy switch in the roof console, wired tot he YELLOW wire and the other was wired to the back of the clock
wired to the furthest right of the connection
With them wired to the roof console YELLOW wire and the clock (permanent live) they come on when the doors/boot are open and they also come on when the roof console is in the off position (only when doors open)
Will grab a pic when it gets dark, because of the way ive wired them they also dim when the light goes out
Next up was fit my boost gauge to its permanent position after received a gauge pod from bens306 (top delivery  ) so was a case of getting best position and im happy with it as you can see where it dont meet the pillar from the outside and blends in well whilst inside plus i get my vent back at the same time
Also tightened up my turbo hose as i have a bit of more access from this position as you cans ee it was blowing from the oil around it
Next up is to put gearbox oil back in as when changing the passenger strut i pulled the driveshaft out as you do and spilled a bit on the driveway (lucky car is over so rents cant see it jsut yet)
