no-way! never in a million years! especially the way u drive. lol

It will rev (when the turbo kicks in) but i do agree with the sound part, petrol is nicer, the derv sounds like a tank with a bust exhaust.

Ollie, i can get (and have had) 523miles out of a full tank. diesel 1 - petrol 0

yes but petrols get more smiles to a tank than diesel

p.s i've had 435 out of my xsi-6 so not that far behind a diesel

Head work.

First i sat the head in a tub of diesel for a few days to help get some crap out of it, then removed the valves and sent the head to be skimmed.
The Red Shed. - Page 2 Photo0149

easyway to keep valves in the right order;
The Red Shed. - Page 2 Photo0145

With the head back from south wales pistons, the next job was to lap the valves, I've rushed this so many times in the past buy using a drill etc but i did it all by hand this time, took me ages!! This was the point i thought of just scrapping everything and just giving up on cars altogether. But i powered through and after what felt like months(probily an hour) it was done.
The Red Shed. - Page 2 Photo0143

next was fit the new valve stem oil seals and re-fit the valves
The Red Shed. - Page 2 Photo0148

Then fit the head to the block! and refit the cam, now it was starting to look like an engine and i felt alot happier :-)

65litre tank, if you're gentle with them they'll get very good mpg, if you floor it that goes out of the window tho. can drink a tank in just under 200 miles Smile

The Front mount, i did get some pics of this, i used a diahatsu (is that how u spell it?) fourtrack intercooler as it was a perfect size and the pipes bend round the side of the rad.

This bucket of shite is dead again, suspect a cracked block, will tick over all day but when you try to drive it it blows all the water out. so, this engine and rad (cos thats faulty too) were pulled out last night in record time and dumped in the scrap bin. I'm picking up a 67k engine tonight for £150 and the engine is going back to standard for now. The front mount is for sale! pipes, manifold, cooler, modified fan,slam panel, the lot.

back on the road! changed the water pump too cos the fins were different, think this might of been killing my engines. all running cool now and not getting hot or even pressurizing. so far so good lets hope it stays that way.
