Boost gauge installation OEM look

Right ive decided to go one step further with a digital boost gauge installation. Bought a tyre pressure gauge(yes this has been done before on here)
got this gauge coming then ill be taking in apart

and eventually im hoping it will look something like this

will be over a long time due to exams and finding a spare dials to practice on

Nice idea Benny boy, can see this being a nice little mod if you can make it work

looks nice but i think would look better if the clocks had the blue VW style display

Can you change the bulbs on the 306's to make them blue?

simon that idea is in pipeline to convert it all to blue leds
i.e. metal monkey dials

Answered my question without even knowing it

Blue dials would look nice

will look really trick when its done seen a few metal monkey dials in 306s and they aways look the best far better than removing the filters on standard dials

just one thing you gonna have enough room in the back there to run the pipework through . . . just remember longer pipework means less acurate readings

be same amount of pipework if not shorter then if i was to put the boost gauge in a vent

done some more work today

first job was to take the clocks out and work out how i was going to do this, struck a problem straight away,a shed load of plastic so had to work out how to run it through the clocks, idea came through using one of the dis used bulb holders


had to make it slightly bigger hole in order to get the small pressure circuit board through then reasemble the other side



secured the main board itself down so i could work out where to make the hole in my dails


started to make the hole,obviously i need to make it larger but ran out of time for the day so had to reasemble it all




also swopped some red dials over i found

do you still have the clear needles?

yea still got them but keeping them for time being

good start how you going to tidy up that hole though ?

hole needs to get bigger first anyway and itll tidy up by doing a perfectly neat cut that goes jsut under the display screen

finally got it fitted in the dash and all wired up,just need to sort out the edges so it looks neater and get some leds to shine light on it so it lights up during the day/night aswell

now i can finally take the elbow off and drill a hole for it and hopefully get this all done before FCS

All i can say is wow, nice, given me some ideas to start on now lol, im a lover of the old gadget!

lol this is still ongoing at the moment waiting to sort out few little niggles before i finish this

i still cant see with all the bends into there that this will give an acurate read never got acurate reads from my analouge boost gague mounted on the a pillar due to the bends

had accurate readings with my boost gauge in my old cars,still aint finished this had more important things come up but will deffo look into getting it finished when money comes available lol

just awaiting on a part which ill recieve early jan then i can finally complete this lol
