I snapped both of mine too mate, as long as their still jammed in solid u can bleed the caliper through the brake pipe itself.

hi mate , yeah they are both snapped flush to the caliper /no leaks.
we tried bleeding them throguh the pipe and my mate says he has seen air bubbles coming
out but it still feels spongy on the pedal and rear brake efficeny is arounf 60-70kgf on both rears .
where as i got around 300kgf at the fronts . mot tester says i need at least 120 kgf a side to pass .
do you have to let a lot of fluid through the brake pipe in order to bleed them properly ?
any tips ?

Re: pair of 106 /306 gti rear calipers
I just put the pressure bleeder on and opened and closed the pipe a few times, left it open for a second or 2 each time. i didnt have any problems on the last 2 mot's with them.
Wat have u changed on the brakes?

If its any help, if you've changed any of the metal brake pipes they do take a bit of time to get all the air out and sometimes if you've done a big pipe u may need to bleed the front too to get rid of the spongy ness. i changed a brake bias valve on mine too and the drivers side was a pain to bleed. bleed the calipers in order of furthest away from the master cylinder first.

Re: pair of 106 /306 gti rear calipers
i have only changed rear pads and discs ,i know they are meant to feel a little spongy for a few days due to this but i am pretty convinced there is air in there . also before that i pulled the pistons out and wd40 ed them to check they are going in and out fine .
front brakes are perfect . 300kgf a side , the rears are around 60-70 kgf a side according to mot tester they have to be 120 kgf each at least .
i have not got a pressure bleeder bu have mates if that helps ?
is this a known trick by garages to bleed them using the union ?
i would not mind taking it to a garage just for that .
how can you put the pressure bleeder on it while the union nut is screwed on to the caliper ??

Pretty sure peugeot only made a single size of rear brake's for the 306? So HDI, XSI, XS, S16 and GTI - any of those should fit.

Re: pair of 106 /306 gti rear calipers
Pressure bleeder goes onto the master cylinder and forces the fluid through. it does sound like theres air in the system but if u only changed discs and pads u should have to bleed it too.
How are u bleeding it?
Get a mate to pump the brake pedal, not too fast tho (about 4-5 times to get the pedal hard-ish) get him to hold the pedal down and then u open the union, let air/fluid out and then tighten it back up. then he can let go of the pedal. repeat this about 3-4 times, then do the other side.

Re: pair of 106 /306 gti rear calipers
i am still looking to get a pair of calipers i got here refurbed may be .
the same problem with them as well , both bleed nipples are snapped flush with caliper casing .
any idea if the holes for the nipples can be retapped at a machine shop ?
even to take larger nipples for strength ?

Re: pair of 106 /306 gti rear calipers
no idea on that, i tried ages to get mine out and just decided to leave them in. There are 2 types listed with different piston diameters 30 and 32mm, the larger 1's will be the same fitment. i can get them in work but they're about £65 each.
