Re: Brakes
247- 1.4,1.6,1.8,1.9D,1.9DT
266 -XSI, HDI, old S16
283 -GTI, newer S16
If you put 283 in a car that used to have 247, you may need to change the MC to prevent excessive brake travel, but a lot of people don't bother, 247-266 and 266-283 there is no need to change the MC
247 Will let you put any wheels on the car from 14" up
266 Will let you put almost any wheels on the car but Harries(14") scrape on the calipers
283 Needs 15" alloys
Then you can go up to 330 brembo's off the 406 coupe, but you only really need them if you're going up to SC-6 Standards

Re: Brakes
Im sure i have a set of 266mm calipers kicking about off the S16, £10(pair) u'll need discs and pads tho. i can price them up in work for u. do u want cheap or do u want good brakes?
brake engernering discs £22(pair)
Brembo discs £36 (pair)
ferodo econimy pads £20
ferodo premier £28.
Might be able to sort out some discount on them depending if u want a receipt or not.

yeah 15" minimum for gti6 283mm
another option alot of the gti6 lads go for is the xantia v6 disc (285mm iirc) with the 406 brembo calipers and you can fit cyclones with a 3mm spacer
Re: Brakes
The 286mm calipers seem hard to come by unless u got money to burn. and the brembos are mega money.

Re: Brakes
I have a set of 266mm Calipers from a 2000 plate 206 GTi. They have been cleaned and painted red and never been fitted.
The only problem, is that I am missing the Caliper yoke. So you would have to find replacement ones of these. Around £50-60 at Pug.
£20 for the calipers? Hoses are removed/new bleed nipples.
