How to remove centre console [ GUIDE ]
Right few threads have popped up recently so thought id do a guide considering my metal monkey dials had arrvied and would be a good opportunity to do one. Average time to complete 30mins
This thread will cover the following:
Centre console removal
Metal monkey dial replacement
LED installation
Tools needed:
Stanley Knife
Long nose pilers
Torx bit 25
Flat head screwdriver
8mm socket
Headunit removal keys(or similar)
Remove the headunit by pushing the removal keys either side of the headunit and then pulling it out slowly so the headunit comes out aswell, unplug the system and pull out radio connection
Look just inside and most 306s may have the 2 locking nuts still in place, remove these using an 8mm socket
CAREFULLY prise back the lower trim using the flat headed screw driver
Then you need to use the T25 bit and remove all 4 torx sxrews and put them in a safe place
Gently pull back the centre trim and youll need to unplug the connections at the bottom.
(If you require to remove the top vents also there are 1-3 torx bits holding this in underneath, simply unscrew these and pull the vents down and towards you)
You are then left with this(see pic below), insert a flat head screw driver under the 4 clips holding the plastic heater control in place, whens all 4 are unclipped carefully prise the unit off.its important to turn all your dials fully to the left so there all facing up BEFORE removing them
You will need to get the black knobs off (prise them off carefully using flat head screw driver) then using a stanley knife or a similar sharp object get the black coating off,you will be elft with some sticky residue, simply rub some white spirit over it and it will disappear.
Follow instructions given with the metal monkey dials and youll acheive this effect, my backing if ICE BLUE
LEDs (www.crazyleds.com)
Remeber if they dont work first time round try turning them 180 degrees, you need to unscrew the bulb holders on the control box
once they are unscrewed you will need to gently apply pressure to the bulb using the long nosed pliers and pull/wiggle on the bulb holder in roder to remove bulb, once bulb is remove get your LED and bend back the metal wiring and push through the bulb holder and fold over exiting connections
reinsert into the control box and test
Now after having followed the guidelines provided by metal monkey you are now ready to do a reverse of the above insturctions in order to get it all back together

Finished result:
Will get night time pics when its dark also
