Re: The black one
Little update again - Its dead...again.
Toby came down to help change the injector seals, all went perfectly well until the last seal. Injector came out not a problem but when it came time to put it back in the injector wouldn't go back in!
By the looks of it the thread on the head had been crossed by the last person to have the injectors out but stopped and took it out then got it back in fine second time around - when we tried to put them in we could only get the injector back in on the crossed thread and it just wouldn't go in.
Big thanks to Toby though who is going to get it back up to his next week sometime and tap the head so we can get the injector back in, but i'm going to be without a car for a while...again

they are mega tight mind, it might need a bit of force to get it in, done a few and had to use a power bar to get them out and in.

Re: The black one
I have not got a clue about heli-coils or what they are or how to use them so i'm going to sound like a twat but if someone can come to my house and heli-coil it then i'll pay fuel and for the insert/coil/drill whatever it is, if its going to work out cheaper than getting it towed to aberdare? Are we going to have to take the head off to tap it toby? As its coming up to christmas i just want to do whatever is cheaper then chuck it in for part-ex, this is more hassle than its worth to be honest
Re: The black one
When i did mine (renault 19 diesel injector) i paid £8.40 ish for the coil, i had all the tools at the place i was working at at the time, maybe best speaking to a local garage to ask them how much they would charge to fit 1 to save having to buy the fitting tool.
i cant offer to come and do it im not able to walk for 6 weeks so you'd have probably scrapped the car by then

Re: The black one
Oh S**T, how come mate?
I'll have a word with the place my dad got his spark plug heli-coiled, see how much they will charge, what tools do you need actually?

Re: The black one
its like a t-bar thing that winds the coil down the bore evenly
i had the opp on friday to remove the pin in my leg, but the holes that are left from the screws means the bone is weak so i cant put any weight on it for 6 weeks

Re: The black one
Oh right, at least your on the mend though!
Aparantly it cost £110 to have a petrol block heli-coiled, if i can get mine done for that much i'll be happy, as a new head is about £50, hg set is about the same, then the cost of getting the car recovered to wherever it needs to go, plus all of the other little costs that always have a nasty habit of springing up on you, plus this way its guaranteed.

Re: The black one
Helocoiling is the chespest option, like Simon said, about 19/15 to buy and shove someone with the right tools £20
