Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
So you are a fellow weight saver now?
You going for polycarb windows? Fibreglass bonnet n boot etc?
I saved 3-4kg of weight removing all the un-needed wiring in the interior looms
Hole Saw FTW

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
lol hole saw, i dont think i'm going to go to that extent (yet) I'am planning poly windows and carbon bonnet boot and maybe roof but will be after getting the engine in and the car on the road so wont be for a while
Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
I've bought a lightened flywheel group 'n' lower engine mount new omp stearing wheel and boss over the weekend valeo clutch arrived today so got the water pump and cam belt tensioner kit to order and the engine can go in I'll source a new intercooler and pipe it up when the engine is in the bay.
Rollcage update got a price at a very local fabricators which would save quite a bit £700 ish gusseted so just got to take a 306 there for him to measure up and he wants some photo's of the cage i want him to replicate
So project seams to have jumped on quite a bit this week end and i'm now stuck do i get the cage done first then over for the engine or fit the engine then over for the cage

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
What cage are you having replicated?
Does the £700 inc an interior respray and seat rails?

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
I would be tempted to get the engine in and running, strip the interior completely just leaving one seat in place to drive the car to the roll cage work shop
Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
I want to replicate the safety devices 10 point 1 but have it gusseted on 'A' &'B' pillars have an 'X' roof and doors, a 'U' going down on to the rear behind the drivers seat and harness bars.
I will do the re spraying only costs me the paint then and may seats have the runners already

that is how she is now 1 seat and running so i'm tempted to have the cage then engine out spray the bay and inside new engine in and running then spray the whole car
Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
Does your cage involve cutting the dash?
It sounds like one hell of a cage. No messing about! Although surely going to be adding 50kg? Unless its the lighter CR-MO? metal?
Have you looked on the custom cages website, they sell one similar to what you are describing...

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
Looks the business!
Get the hole saw out and go to town on any interior 2nd skin of metal
All along the roof line, if the cage is going there!
Some of the later 106's have a metal support along the roof in the middle. If you are having a cage custom fabricated, and the 306 shares this panel, you can remove it and save around 2kg!

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
Did you buy the flywheel 2nd hand, off the shelf or get some company to machine one for you?
I'm tempted to do it to the 106 before I refit the box n clutch!

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
Some seriously nice parts going on this motor mate, gonna be hell of a ride.
That's a good price for the cage, steel or ally? Are you getting the harness points done too?

Re: Black Supercharged 306 Rallye
yep gonna be a good a toy just trying to get it done without hving to sell the xsi-6
price on cage was with alloy as just a rough guess he wants a 306 down there to measure up and can then give a more accurate quote harrness points will also be done
