unlocked the gti6 ecu today at the garage so it will work on my car.

and got some spare petrol caps for a future smoothing project and a pair of door switches as i need to replace mine.

sortd some engine cleaner today so will be cleaning the gti6 engine down this wk may start it 2moro.

took the gearbox off the gti6 today removed the old clutch and flywheel.

so next i need to take the brackets etc off the gearbox and clean it down and paint it up silver then. and go over the flywheel with a wire brush to take all the rust and dirt off.

I took all the brackets off the gearbox today,then cleaned the gearbox off with some engine cleaner, left it to dry and went over it with a wire brush on the drill. then started to paint it up with some silver engine paint.

got the brackets to prep and spray black and bolt back on to it tommorow. and the gear selector rod and linkages to clean up.

i have already cleaned the flywheel up with the wire brush on the drill. I have a brand new valeo clutch kit to go on aswell.

got to clean the engine block and paint silver. and spray the covers up and inlet manifold. gt some nice new shiney bolts on order to put the covers back on with. then just cambelt kit and waterpump to be done and its ready to drop in.

cleaned, preped and painted the gti6 gear selector rod.GTI6 engine conversion - Page 6 Gearselector

cleaned up the gti6 driveshafts. Looks like the outer cv boots have been changed recently as they look quite new so that will save me a job.

been back down the garage today stripping a few more parts off for cleaning and painting.

have hopefully bought a nissens aluminium radiator for a baragin now but trying to raise funds to pay for it now lol.

just sold the ol ps2 out of the cupboard tonite tho Very Happy .

have to see wot other crapi can find to sell now.

Why is the aircon pump in there? Take it out and use the rallye aux system...weight saving! Gives an extra 10 bhp at least

im getting rid of all the air con rad and pipework. but putting the pump on as i got a new auxaillary belt on my xsi engine so may aswell use that one.

cant see it bein 10bhp difference to be honest on a 167bhp engine.

its only about 2-3 bhp but its the torque you notice but tbh theres not much between the white 1 running a pump as a jocky wheel and the rallye without
